Finished!

Hey guys,

So my assessment has come to an end!...well I actually finished last wed but I just got back my result and I'm pretty pleased with it :)

Although these designs still need some work, I think I have come pretty far from the initial ideas I posted up ages ago.

Thanks to everyone who has followed, commented and giving me encouragement throughout this semester. It has been really fun reading your comments and hearing about your ideas.

If I can, I'm gonna try and work on this project more. I want to get it to the stage where I am 100% satisfied with it for my folio and hopefully be able to spam facebook once more and sell them (lucky you!)

I'll post individual photos of my cards soon once I get out of holiday mood :)

Wow, I have enough greeting cards to last a lifetime O_O'

Pretty pleased with how much I did, although I must admit there are some things I need to work on. I think atm the materials is overshining the designs I've done, but it's all trial and error so it'll have to do for this moment. I must say gocco machines are hard work...underestimated it by a mile! Nevertheless I still love the stamp effect.

So anyone want to buy any?? lol, I have so many.

Here's a sneak peak of my designs!

I had to change my designs a bit as I confronted many obstacles using a gocco machine. Considering neither I nor my uni mate Terry had used a gocco before, a lot of the time was spent on trial and error so the colours were either a hit or a miss.

Nevertheless I hope you guys still like it. I found another alternative to adding colour so will test that out soon.

Digital Designs

So my project is almost coming to an end (4 days!) Here's all the images I designed on Illustrator.

I'm currently in the process of hand printing them. Unfortunately I could only make 8 designs as I ran out of time to make them all :(

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions. They are still in my sketch book so hopefully I'll be able to produce more designs depending on how the success rate of this project goes!

Last stretch

So a few more days til my presentation and major project is due. Getting a bit worried about my presentation lol.

I've photoshopped my card designs into some photos I took but it feels like something is missing. Feels a bit...staged and empty? I think it needs a more human element in it D:

Might just use some of these for my presentation.

Pick up line 2

I was editing my images for print and I realised that my last design look too sweet. I think if a fat kid loves cake he'd look a bit more ... excited lol.

Maybe I'll do two designs; one for 'sweet nice guy' to confess and the other for the 'creepy don't touch me stalker'.

Clean clothes are happy clothes!

Part of the Domestic series. I think I'll do ONE more for this concept as I have no idea what would be a suitable application. (Post it's? Place cards? Magnets?)

An idea for it could be:
Laundry: Velcro backing to stick onto clothes
Dishes: Magnet for diswasher or some sort of swing tag for the sink
Feed me (Pet and people): Reuseable stickers to place on fish tank, window where puppy cries, fridge etc...

What do you think? Hit or Miss idea?

Condolence card for pet deaths. Colours remind me of a baby boy cards (could represent rebirth?? lol) At least they'll be partying with dinosaurs on fluffy clouds :)

Another application I was thinking of proposing is MMS greetings. As phones get more sophisticated with in built cameras and screen quality, sending out MMS's have become pretty accessible. I was thinking this can be an Iphone app that people can download and receive new MMS designs daily to send out.

(I definitely need to photoshop a better image with the sms in tact!)

This concept could pretty much work with the other designs too :) If only I could design this Iphone app! HD for suuure

The great thing about IOU's is you can translate it onto anything. I was thinking, another great way to communicate with someone is through post its. Here are some mock ups I made.

For Happy Dishes, I was thinking maybe I can do a domestic series. Good for people who want their house mates to clean up or do chores. Not sure if I can get these made yet, but definitely be something I'll propose.

People who have time to fb tag everything...

I'm not sure how I feel about this concept atm. I had two other ideas which was to shine spoons and cut split ends. Yay or nay?

I'll work on something else and get back to these job ones later

IOU with speech

Added the speech bubble. Good for filling up negative space haha. Also you can write whatever you want it. Examples as below.

What do you think, better or worse? I like how expressionless the other girl was but I think the 'write what you owe' adds to the design a bit..hrmmm

EDIT* Advice from Jordan to make the speech bubbles white. Don't know why it never occured to me to try that haha...thanks Jordan, looks better now :)

'Super poke' and 'Close' don't really match as well as the others but I might try vectoring them and see if I can fix it somehow. Also gotta change the grow up colours. Reminds me too much of footy (I guess it could be quite suitable?)

Pete said I should make the 'Get a Job' boy less pitiful looking lol and maybe try to make them look like they are wasting time instead.

The 'Get a Job' ones are:
- Cutting split ends
- Shining spoons
- Facebook tagging a million people

Decided to change my designs a bit as I felt something wasn't quite right in the previous ones. I think the major difference is that I have integrated the type more into the illustration and it looks a whole lot better!

These are just roughs but I'm starting to like photoshop more than my vector work haha...
Favourite one of this bunch is bird flu. Zombie one still needs work I think.
